The location on the stunning Tutukaka Coast means you have your pick of things to do on, in or around the water. Your accommodation is only a minute from Ngunguru Village and just 10 minutes away from Tutukaka Marina which gives you access to:
- Deep sea fishing charters
- Trips to the Poor Knights Islands
- Diving/Snorkelling trips
- Surfing (Sandy Bay and the Ngunguru bar are both in easy reach)
Coastal walks and bush hikes
One of the best things to do in Tutukaka is to take one of the many amazing walking trails that crisscross the area. Expect magnificent sandy beaches, pōhutukawa trees, a lighthouse, and a forest with abundant birdlife and a huge kauri tree. There are breathtaking coastal and bush views to enjoy on every trail, and plenty of ways to immerse yourself in nature.
Local cafes, eateries and art encounters
From the restaurants at Tutukaka Marina to the cafes in nearby Ngunguru, you’re never far away from a great cup of coffee, something to eat, and an opportunity to meet the friendly locals. Some excellent markets and art galleries can also be found close by. Your base for exploring Northland
Situated at just 30 minutes from Whangarei, True North Tutukaka provides an excellent base for exploring the incredible Northland region. There are plenty of exciting destinations close enough for day trips, such as:
- Bay of Islands
- Kai Iwi Lakes
- Opononi & Kaipara Harbour
- Waipoua Forest & Tane Mahuta (the largest Kauri tree in NZ)
